FH6 Winter Treasure Hunt: Shimanoyama Clue Guide

Published: September 26, 2026 ยท Last updated: November 6, 2026 ยท 8 min read

The FH6 Winter Treasure Hunt for Series 5 is a 100,000-credit detour inside the Shimanoyama Region. Where should you start when the photo clue shows a landmark but no exact pin? The official Playlist Hub lists the objective as โ€œFollow the Photo Clue to Discover the Treasure!โ€ That wording matters: the public event listing confirms the region and reward, but it does not publish a fixed chest coordinate. This guide gives you a repeatable way to read the clue, sweep the right area, and confirm the reward without copying an old-season location.

British Automotive Winter runs from September 24 through October 1, 2026. Open the live in-game Playlist before you start, because the timer and the active clue are more authoritative than a saved article. If you are also collecting the Winter cars, the Astra VXR and Bentayga tuning guide covers the current reward pair; this page is specifically for the Shimanoyama Treasure Hunt.

The official FH6 Festival Playlist Hub is the source for those event facts. Playground Games’ Series 5 announcement also confirms that Shimanoyama is part of the British Automotive spotlight and hosts the series’ Drift Tire Mascot collectible during the second week. Do not confuse that collectible sweep with the Winter Treasure Hunt chest.

How to activate and read the clue

  1. Open the Winter Playlist first. Select the Treasure Hunt entry and make sure the activity is active. If the entry is missing, check the seasonal reset timer and reload the Playlist.
  2. Read the full photo, not just its headline. Identify the largest visual anchor: a bridge, building, track, coastline, forest edge, sign, or unusual piece of road furniture. The anchor is normally more useful than a vague color or car detail.
  3. Use the region as a hard boundary. Start inside Shimanoyama and avoid spending time in nearby regions until the clue proves that the search has crossed a border. The official listing names the region, not a city-wide free search.
  4. Follow the new map state. After the clue is accepted, zoom into the highlighted search area and remove unrelated map filters. A clean map makes small roads, landmarks, and the chest marker easier to read.

Three-pass Shimanoyama search route

This is a search method rather than a fabricated coordinate. It works when the clue is recognizable but the chest is hidden by terrain, props, or a busy map.

Pass 1: perimeter and major roads

Drive the paved roads around the highlighted area at moderate speed. Check junctions, parking pull-offs, bridge approaches, and the first turn beside the landmark shown in the photo. Keep the camera pointed outward so the silhouette in the clue can be compared with the live scenery. Fast travel can skip the visual confirmation you need, so use it only after the first sweep.

Pass 2: side roads and landmark backs

If the chest is not visible, take every short branch road and inspect the reverse side of the clue landmark. Treasure areas often look wrong when approached from the opposite direction: a building can hide the chest, a wall can block the icon, and a road bend can make a bridge or tower appear farther away than it is. Slow down near dirt shoulders and small parking spaces.

Pass 3: low-speed recheck

Repeat the shortest loop with the map zoomed in and the camera angled low. Listen for the chest confirmation and watch for the interaction prompt rather than relying only on a distant icon. If the clue references a landmark, park beside it and rotate the camera through a full circle before moving on.

Clue-reading checklist

  • Shape: match the skyline or structure outline before matching colors.
  • Surface: note whether the photo shows pavement, dirt, grass, sand, or a water edge.
  • Road geometry: compare the bend, elevation change, guardrail, and junction direction.
  • Scale: a close-up object may sit beside a large landmark; do not assume the photographed object is the chest location itself.
  • Approach angle: check both sides of a wall, building, bridge, or sign because the chest can be hidden just outside the first camera view.

If the chest or reward does not trigger

  1. Reopen the Playlist and confirm that the Winter Treasure Hunt is selected rather than an older saved objective.
  2. Confirm the car is inside Shimanoyama and that the current map search area has not been replaced by another event marker.
  3. Remove filters for races, collectibles, and player events, then zoom back into the clue area.
  4. Leave the area, fast travel to a nearby road, and return from a different direction. This can refresh a chest that was occluded by scenery or failed to load.
  5. Check the credit total and Playlist progress after the interaction. A completed reward may be easier to verify in the reward history than by looking for the chest again.

Do not use the Autumn Shimanoyama Tire Hunt guide as a Treasure Hunt route. That older activity asked players to smash Drift Tire Mascots and used a different completion check. The Winter Treasure Hunt is a separate photo-clue objective with a 100,000-credit reward.

Efficient Winter completion order

If you are short on time, claim the playlist rewards first: the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR arrives at 20 points and the 2016 Bentley Bentayga at 40. Then complete the Treasure Hunt while you are already in or near Shimanoyama. The current Winter list also includes the #BambooPerfect photo challenge, the Country Pickups and Cult Street championships, Drift Attack, PR Stunts, and The Trial. Use the FH6 Festival Playlist guide for the wider checklist and return here when the photo clue is the only unresolved item.
