FH6 Spring Lotus Guide: Esprit V8 vs Emira, Rewards & RWD Tuning
The FH6 Series 5 Spring Lotus pair is a useful two-car RWD project, not a single interchangeable tune. British Automotive Spring is listed for October 1โ8, 2026. Its 20-point reward is the 2002 Lotus Esprit V8; the 40-point reward is the 2023 Lotus Emira. Both start in A class, but their stock PI and power differ. Secure the Esprit first, then decide whether the extra 20 points for the Emira fit your week.
This guide separates verified game data from our suggested build process. The official Playlist Hub lists the Spring rewards and event restrictions. The official Series 5 announcement supplies stock PI, horsepower, torque, and drivetrain. Season pages can update ahead of the live rotation, so confirm the active Spring timer in game before expecting points to count.
Esprit V8 vs Emira: verified starting specs
| Car | Spring points | Stock PI | Power / torque | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2002 Lotus Esprit V8 | 20 | A 619 | 350 hp / 295 lb-ft | RWD |
| 2023 Lotus Emira | 40 | A 656 | 400 hp / 310 lb-ft | RWD |
The Esprit has 37 more PI points of room before the stock Emira's starting rating, so it gives you more space to choose a specific A-class handling direction. That does not prove it is faster: PI is a build budget, not a lap-time ranking. The Emira begins with 50 more horsepower and 15 lb-ft more torque, but you should test each car on the same route before calling either one the better racer.
Claim plan without wasting Spring points
- Check that Spring is active. Open the live Playlist and confirm the timer. The official page labels this October 1โ8, but an early web update alone is not proof the in-game season has rotated.
- Bank the 20-point Esprit. Start with tasks that match cars already in your garage. The official list includes the DB5 Vantage weekly challenge (upgrades, Street Races, Speed Zones), #TempleVantage photo challenge, Nangan Treasure Hunt, two championships, PR stunts, Drift Attack, and The Trial.
- Reassess at 20. If you want a lower-PI RWD road build, stop and test the Esprit. If you also want the modern Emira, continue toward 40 using eligible events. Do not assume either Lotus qualifies for a Spring event just because it is a reward car.
Restrictions matter this week. โAston Martin Nightsโ is A-class Aston Martin, โRally on Dirtโ is B-class Total Rally, and the Shimanoyama Drift Attack target is United Kingdom A class, 120,000 points. A Lotus may be valid for the UK Drift Attack if its final build remains A class, but it cannot enter an Aston Martin-only championship. Verify each event tile before spending credits on upgrades. For the broader points checklist, use the Festival Playlist guide and season calendar.
Build each Lotus as a controllable A-class RWD road car
Start with a stock lap on a familiar road circuit or sprint and save the time. Keep assists, weather, and route consistent for every comparison. The Esprit and Emira should get separate builds: copying one car's suspension or differential settings into the other ignores their different weight distribution and stock grip. The following is a testing order, not a tested share code or an official preset.
- Choose the event first. If your goal is the Playlist Drift Attack, create a separate drift setup. For ordinary road racing, spend PI first on reliable tires, braking, and corner-exit traction, then on power if the car still feels slow on straights.
- Preserve RWD while learning the car. Run several clean laps before considering a drivetrain swap. Notice whether the rear steps out only under throttle or also during braking; those are different problems.
- Install adjustable parts only when needed. A race differential and adjustable suspension make sense if you can identify a repeatable handling fault. Do not buy every racing part simply because it is available; check the final class and event rules after each purchase.
- Change one setting at a time. If the inside rear wheel spins on exit, increase acceleration differential lock in small steps; if both rear tires break loose, reduce throttle application or add grip instead. If the car oversteers on entry, inspect braking and deceleration behavior before changing the entire suspension.
- Retest the same corner and lap. Keep a quick note of lap time, braking stability, mid-corner balance, and exit traction. Keep only changes that improve the car consistently, not a single lucky lap.
Which Lotus should you drive first?
Use the Esprit if you want the earlier 20-point reward and a lower stock PI canvas for an A-class build. Use the Emira if you reach 40 points and want to test a more powerful stock RWD car with fewer upgrades before racing. Neither recommendation is a claim of a measured FH6 meta ranking. On a short, technical course, consistency may matter more than the higher stock horsepower; on a faster sprint, the difference could feel different. Test both before committing your upgrade budget.
If your real goal is the 120,000-point Shimanoyama Drift Attack, keep a separate tune and follow our Clipping Zones and drift setup guide. A stable road-race Lotus is not automatically the right drift car. Our general tuning guide explains the upgrade and test sequence in more detail.
