Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt Guide - All Locations & Answers

Published: May 7, 2026 | 6 min read

Treasure Hunts are one of the most rewarding seasonal activities in Forza Horizon 6. Each treasure hunt gives you a photo clue — your only hint to locate a buried chest on the map. Drive to the right spot, smash the chest with your car, and collect up to 100,000 Wheelspins Credits per find. This guide covers all confirmed FH6 treasure hunt locations and answers.

How Treasure Hunts Work

Treasure Hunts appear as part of the seasonal Festival Playlist. Each one presents a single photograph taken somewhere in Japan's map. You must study the image, recognize the landmark or landscape, navigate to that location, and smash the glowing chest buried there. Chests appear as golden glowing objects on the ground, visible from a short distance.

Summer 2026: Welcome to Japan Treasure Hunt

The current "Welcome to Japan" treasure hunt is active during the Summer season. The photo clue shows a stunning golden temple reflected in a lake — unmistakably Kinkaku-ji, the famous Golden Temple in Kyoto.

Kinkaku-ji Temple Location

Drive to the Otani region in central Japan. From the Horizon Festival grounds, head north and look for a dirt trail branching off the main road. The chest sits near a lake beside a traditional temple with yellow walls. If you've explored Otani already, you'll recognize the distinctive golden pavilion reflected in the water.

The exact area is south of the Kinkaku-ji Temple parking area. Follow the trail heading north from the main road between Otani and the temple grounds — the chest is at the end of a short path near a small lake. Driving up and smashing it rewards you with 100,000 credits.

Tips for Finding Treasures

Study the photo angle carefully. Notice the direction of light, surrounding terrain, road markings, and any text or signs visible in the background. Mountains, coastlines, and distinctive buildings are the easiest landmarks to identify from the photo clues. If you're stuck, explore the region shown in the photo and check trail entrances — chests are always at the end of short off-road paths.

Other Confirmed Treasure Locations

Watch for new treasure hunts to appear each season. As the community discovers locations, they typically cluster around iconic Japanese landmarks: temples, mountain passes, coastal roads, and urban landmarks. Check the Festival Playlist every Thursday when seasons change for new treasure hunt challenges.
