Forza Horizon 6 Hokkaido Snow Driving Guide

Published: May 7, 2026 | 7 min read

Hokkaido in FH6 is the game's most unique region — blanketed in snow year-round, driving here is completely different from dry Tokyo or Osaka. Low-friction ice and snow multiply the challenge, but also bring unique snow drifting fun.

Core Philosophy: Snow driving is about being slow but smooth. Don't chase speed — chase smoothness and tire slip control. When you can complete a corner with the gentlest inputs, you're a snow pro.

Five Key Snow Driving Points

Lower Tire Pressure

Slightly lowering tire pressure increases the contact patch with the road. Try 5-8 PSI below normal.

Gentle Throttle

On snow, heavy throttle causes drive wheels to spin. Use slow, gradual throttle inputs to accelerate without spinning.

Brake Earlier

Ice dramatically reduces friction, extending braking distances. Start braking at least 50% earlier than on dry roads.

Use Inertia

Snow drifting relies mainly on inertia — lift off early to shift weight forward, rear tires will naturally lose grip and slide.

Eyes Far Ahead

Snow limits visibility. Look far ahead to spot corners and road conditions early.

Best Cars for Snow

Subaru WRX STI

Recommended

Boxer engine + AWD = snow king. Factory performance is exceptional on snow.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Recommended

EVO's AWD system excels on snow with massive tuning potential.

Toyota Land Cruiser

Recommended

Off-road heritage means it handles snow effortlessly with maximum stability.

Audi Quattro

Classic AWD system, legendary in winter rally racing.

Ford Mustang (AWD version)

High power RWD needs caution on snow, but the AWD version lets you plant the throttle confidently.

Snow Drifting Techniques

Snow drifting differs from dry drifting in one key way — you need to be gentler with every input. On ice, once the rear breaks loose it's much harder to catch than on dry pavement, so entry speed control matters more than ever.

Tip: On Hokkaido's snow, don't chase speed — chase stability. When you can draw perfect arcs on snow, speed will follow naturally.
